Yesterday has finished Patum. Was my Second year for me. I upload my first picture, I had no enough time to download the cardpictures.

The Patum de Berga is a popular and traditional festival that is celebrated each year in the Catalan city of Berga during Corpus Christi. It consists of a series of “dances” (balls) by townspeople dressed as mystical and symbolical figures, and accompanied either by the rhythm of a drum—the tabal, whose sound gives the festival its name—or band music. The balls are marked by their solemnity and their ample use of fire and pyrotechnics.

It was declared a Traditional Festival of National Interest by the Generalitat de Catalunya in 1983, and as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2005.

El jueves pasado se me ocurrió pasar un buen rato en la Patum de Berga. Inexplicablemente era la primera vez.
Impensable, improbable, incluso probablemente inadmisible para un Manresano de mi edad y amante de estos menesteres como yo, que aún no hubiera probado semejante subidón de adrenalina.
Esta vez mis amigos tuvieron a bien convencerme para disfrutar de un espectáculo único, que por algo es patrimonio de la humanidad.
Tuve mis dudas sobre si llevarme la cámara o no, que si el fuego…, que si estaría pendiente de la cámara y no disfrutaría…., todo este tipo de reflexiones y monsergas. Finalmente decidí llevarla un rato y dispar un poco a ver que salía, la verdad es que es francamente difícil tirar fotos cuando apenas puedes mantener el equilibrio. Nunca pensé que en esa plaza podía caber tanta gente. Y además con tanto movimiento.
Como las imágenes no dan para un reportaje formal, he preparado un pequeño video con algunas situaciones que me llamaron la atención (esto no es más que un eufemismo de lo que pude pillar sin caerme!!!).
El año que viene otra vez a la carga!!!
